The company says the average balance of deals confirmed at the show was £112,743, with general enquiries up by 40% and applications up by 10%.

The company also received more dealer referrals than ever before, many of which have already led to documents being raised awaiting imminent completion.

"In addition to deals confirmed at Southampton, we expect to obtain considerable business as a direct result of our presence at the show, " said James Crew, senior marine sales manager at Barclays Marine Finance.

Barclays says the last 12 months have been the most successful in the company's history. Recent figures show a 90% increase year-on-year, with the average marine mortgage now at £92,000, compared to £39,000 for the same period a year ago.
