Lots of switches, life guarantee against corrosion

Older boats can be plagued with electrical problems, often caused by outmoded switch panels, says Merlin Equipment.

The company adds too few switches is a common complaint, as is seizure caused by corrosion and panels simply falling apart.

Merlin Equipment's new range of Blue Sea Systems panels are guaranteed for life against corrosion and enhance the reliability and safety of a boat's electrical system.

Each panel is of a standard modular size, allowing panels to be built up to suit any boat.

By using industry standard Carlingswitch breakers, owners can choose breaker sizes from 0.25 to 50 amps.

Built in LEDs show which breakers are on/off.

Some panels have built in volt/amp meters and, for AC panels, reverse polarity indicators.

Alongside each breaker and LED is a recess for a label. The recess ensures that labels are properly aligned. An optional backlight system is available for easy viewing at night.

Each panel is manufactured using 1/8th inch thick aluminium with anti-corrosion coatings to military specifications. All other metal parts, busbars, terminals and any wiring, are fully tinned to prevent corrosion.

Also included within the range are waterproof panels - ideal for dayboats, flybridges and RIBs.

Starting at £65.00, Blue Sea panels are just part of an extensive range of breakers, fuses, terminals, switches and busbars.
