The brush body is handcrafted from the highest quality hardwood, says Shurehold, but instead of being attached to one of the company's anodised aluminium handles, it's mounted on a varnished wood handle.

Shurhold says this means the brush costs less and takes up minimal space onboard.

The 15.2 cm-wide Marine Mate features a wraparound safety bumper to guard against scratching curved surfaces and corners.

Its yellow polystyrene bristles have specially treated ends, making them extra soft and able to hold more soap and water.

Only rustproof, nickel/ silver wire is used to fasten them to the wood, says the company.
