Silva has added the Lowrance GlobalMap 2400 to its range of GPS chartplotters.

The GlobalMap 2400 is an all-new compact, big screen, high resolution, mapping GPS with digital recording/playback.

The 12.7 cm diagonal, high contrast LCD gives, they say, excellent detail at 240 x 240 pixels resolution and allows clear viewing even in direct sunlight.

Full screen and split screen viewing allow combinations of charts and data and displays charts ranges from 0.1 to 4,000 miles.

The GPS has a 12 parallel channel receiver that can store up to 1,000 waypoints, 1,000 event markers and 99 separate routes.

Up to 42 different graphic icons are available for marking the user's favourite locations and a built-in waterproof slot accepts Multi-Media Cards (MMC) from 8 to 128 megabytes memory.

The unit uses Navionics charting software and can display detailed chart information. It allows the user to record GPS data that can be played back either on the unit or downloaded to a remote PC for viewing, printing and long term storage.

The GlobalMap 2400 measures 13.8 x 17.6 x 8.6 cms and retails at £539.95 inc VAT.

A variety of optional extras are available for the GlobalMap 2400, including MapCreate Accessory Pack - MMC reader, MMC card and MapCreate software USB MMC card reader MMC cards from 8 to 128MB.
