ASAP Supplies now offers a comprehensive range of deck hardware from stainless fittings to ships bells.

The company has now been appointed as the UK's main Perko outlet and will be working closely with the US factory to gain UK market share for the Perko range of navigation lights.

ASAP says the range has been expanded with the introduction of the LED navigation lights, which use less energy.

Perko also offer a wide and varied selection of deck fillers, cleats, fog bells, pole lights, deck lights, rod holders, vents, hatch locks, hinges, adjusters and handles.

The 2003 Perko catalogue is available on request.

Golight Marine Search Lights. 400,000 Candle power @ 5.5 amps from the CR5 Pentabeam technology.

ASAP says the Pentabeam gives a brighter and more powerful light and casts a broad spectral pattern.

Each unit has 370º of rotational movement, 120º vertical sweep. UV and saltwater resistant, the units are available in three mounting options.

Control is by cordless remote control keypad with a range for 50 metres. Ideal for activation when returning to the craft, says ASAP.

Replacement bulbs are available at £10.90. Complete units start from around £91.02 retail.

ASAP also has the Lectrotab, a non-hydraulic trim tab system. The eletromechanical actuators produce a 1000 pounds of thrust in each direction, says ASAP.

Easy to install and with a proven reliability, the Lectrotab now offers actuator position display indicator. 12 and 24 Volt options and 4 - 8 second travel time.

When it comes to repairing those dings the owner walked away from at the end of last season, Aqua-Marine's Bonda Glassfibre Repair Kit can be used to repair holes, cracks and splits permanently in many materials including GRP, wood, metal and concrete.

The kit contains 250g of polyester resin plus catalyst, mixing cup and spatula, 36" x 12" (90 x 30cms) glassfibre chopped strand mat, sandpaper and instructions.

Aqua-Marine says the kit is simple to use, providing the instructions are followed. They cover the basic techniques for laminating with glass fibre and include detailed instructions on how to repair collision fractures or holes and gelcoat cracks.

Retail price is £10.18 inc VAT.

C-Quip says it continues to specialise in stainless steel equipment and is bringing a number of new products to the UK market place for summer 2003, including the following:

Dorades - hand polished with a durable white enamel finish inside. They come with cast S/S deck plate.

Non return cockpit drain - 316 stainless steel cockpit drain with polished removable cover.

C-Quip says it incorporates a one-way check ball and includes a drain grate key for ease of cleaning. Hose connection 1 1/2" (38mm).

Skin fittings - cast 316 stainless steel, thru-hull skin fittings with BSP threads. From 3/8" to 1 1/4".

Deck wash tap - 316 stainless steel modern design, compact faucet. A quarter turn accommodates full on to off allowing a flow rate up to six gallons per minute. Includes a 1/2" pipe fitting connection.

C-Quip also distributes a wide range of other branded products, including the Aqua Signal Nav Switch, that solves what they say is perhaps one of the oldest sailing frustrations.

The new Aqua Signal waterproof Nav Switch now allows the owner to control the yacht's navigation lights from the helm position without the need to go below or shout at the crew.

Switch a quarter turn from the off position for the sailing tri-colour. The compass light comes on at the same time.

Another quarter turn switches to steaming lights, with the final quarter turn swapping again to the anchor light.

In addition, an easy pull/ push action will switch deck or spreader lights on and off.

Includes clear indication by fluorescent symbols. 12/24v, 8amp, IP66 rating. 51mm diameter.

C-Quip says its new catalogue will be completed in April.

Canadian company ICPGlobal Technologies is looking for a UK distributor for its flexible solar panel.

The company claims to be the world's leading manufacturer of solar power solutions and says it has the world's lightest, most flexible solar panel - the BatterySAVER FLEX.

Available in 5, 10 and 20 watt outputs, ICP says the panel incorporates NASA and military technologies with nonbreakable solar cells to create a lightweight, flexible and durable solar panel that can be installed anywhere.

Its malleable construction and choice of mounting options are ideal for all types of boats and other marine applications, they say, as well as for RVs, automobiles and camping.

The panels are made up of extremely flexible and durable CIGS (Copper Indium Gallium Diselenide) solar cells, a material ICP says is proven to be a very stable and long-lived, even when subjected to the rigours of extreme radiation in space.

Thin as 10 sheets of paper, and just as flexible, the BatterySAVER FLEX rolls up neatly into its handy storage/ carrying container when not in use.

The panel can also be used as a direct power source for portable electrics such as GPS, cellular phones, and laptop computers using the optional 12V power socket.

UK distributor Scan Terrieur - see contact panel for details.

Marathon Leisure offers the American-made range of Ongaro horns, with a new mini drop-in horn to complement their existing range of stainless steel horns.

The horns are available as a pair, one low pitch and one high pitch, to produce a loud and full sound. The 12 volt horns are flush mounted with just a low profile cover on view.

Marathon says these horns use the highest quality 304 stainless steel both inside and out, including the sealed sound unit.

They say this means no rust bleed out, a common problem with inferior units, and an unrivalled five year warranty.

The horns meet ABYC A-23 for boats up to 12 metres and come pre-wired with hole centres to match existing units.

Marathon has also just published its largest catalogue to date. They say because of continued growth and the representation of major product brands the decision was made to invest heavily to produce a catalogue that reflects the company's position in the industry.

Marine & Industrial has just been appointed UK distributor for Bostik Findley, handling all Simson adhesives and sealant products for the marine market.

Simson is the brand name of Bostik Findley, itself a subsidiary of the international chemical group, Total Fina Elf.

Bostik Findley claims to be the leading producer worldwide of adhesives, sealants, coatings and additives. The company says the name Simson is synonymous with professional adhesive systems.

The Simson Marine Special Range (MSR) consists of construction adhesive, Fast Tack - which can be used as a construction adhesive when high initial strength is needed - bedding compound and deck caulk.

All products retain their elasticity permanently and have high UV resistance. None of the MSR products contain solvents or isocyanates.

A Good Idea from Plastimo is its removable and foldable cargo boom. Plastimo's own design, the boom helps the handling of heavy and bulky loads and will carry up to 35 kg or the equivalent of a 6 HP/4stroke engine.

The boom swivels through 360infinity and can be mounted on a pushpit (O 22.5 to 25.5 mm) or in the cockpit.

The reach is 80 cm and the height 1m 40 and the boom comes complete with a storage bag that includes 316 L stainless steel folding cargo boom, 1 rope system, 4:1 purchase, 1 Plasticlip with stainless steel fixing plate and a steel articulated mounting shoe which adapts to different mounting angles.

An optional extra is an outboard engine harness - 2m webbing, 35mm wide with a stainless steel buckle.

Polymarine helps owners look after the inflatable in their life with a range of flexible Hypalon-based paints developed specifically for renovating Hypalon and neoprene inflatables.

According to Polymarine, Flexipaint provides an effective air, water and corrosion barrier and offers protection against UV damage.

They say in a smooth, satin finish the product does not crack or flake and is resistant to extreme temperatures, handling -50ºC to + 80ºC.

Flexipaint is also suitable for use on wood and metal surfaces where subjected to acid or corrosive attack, or where waterproofing is required and Polymarine says it can also be used for resettling and preventing rubbing strakes and mouldings from powdering.

Flexipaint is available in black, grey, or white in 1 ltr tins.

Superflex paint is also a fully flexible paint developed specifically for renovating PVC inflatable boats.

According to Polymarine, Superflex is a truly versatile product, that can be used on PVC fenders, boat covers and dodgers.

They say it's easy to apply with either a brush or roller, it will not crack or flake and is available in black, white. grey, orange, blue, yellow and red.

Supplied in 500ml tins.

Launched late last year, Polymarine's engine paint is a completely new range of paints for outboard and inboard engines. It's available in aerosol spray tins and touch-up tubes in a variety of colours.

Again good news for those owners who have the odd gouge left from that last bad landing, SP Systems has a few products ideal to get his boat looking pristine in a short space of time.

Handipack is a multipurpose epoxy, supplied only in a small pack and designed for quick repair work and other small tasks.

SP says the medium to low viscosity of the material enables it to be used for small laminating tasks, using lightweight glass fabrics, such as those from the SP reinforcements range.

Used as a coating, it cures rapidly at ambient temperatures to form a tough, clear film, with good moisture resistance.

If the coating is to remain unpainted, SP says the cured material should be overcoated with a UV-resistant varnish, such as its own Ultravar 2000, to prevent the repair gradually yellowing in sunlight.

Spabond 720 is a thixotropic system that's ideal for general bonding and repair work on a wide range of materials.

Components bonded with Spabond 720 demonstrate high bond strengths and can be handled after a very short period of time and it can also be used in conjunction with other Spabond products as a "spot weld" system where the use of conventional clamps is not possible.

As well as being available in large tins, Spabond 720 is also available in a 24ml twin syringe kit, 200ml twin-component cartridges and 310ml single component cartridges. The syringe kit is self-contained;

the 200ml cartridge requires a mixing/dispensing head and gun; and the 310ml cartridge fits a normal mastic gun.

SP 320 is a solvent-free, clear epoxy coating that provides a high clarity, tough finish. When used for coating wood, just a few coats will provide a depth of clarity that SP says can only otherwise be achieved with many more coats of a conventional varnish.

The epoxy coating will protect most surfaces from moisture ingress and will also add strength to softwood surfaces.

Specialty Fasteners & Components says the ability to reset the torque required over the life of a friction hinge is just one of the excellent features of its patented hinge.

Allowing movement and the ability to set the open position required, the Torque Hinge comes in two sizes with maximum static forces of 1Nm and 5Nm.

With few working parts, SFC says the hinge is cost effective and reduces stock.

This hinge has a wide range of applications and SFC offers covers, hoods, LED screens, articulated arms and removable covers for windows.

As a by-product, the hinge also helps remove vibration movement and noise.

The friction device can also be purchased separately and integrated into hinged mechanisms by the customer.
