IMDA

jerrymartin@globalmarinenetwork.com IMDA's announcement of its acceptance into ICOMIA has brought congratulatory messages from around the world. It gives some country associations a way to offer their members a solid programme aimed at opening new markets for them.
Czech Republic boat design firm Richard Oehrli Design (IMDA Email: r.a.oehrli@seznam.cz) reports Czech builder Nereide Yachting has plans for cooperation with several members of the Spanish boating industry.
One of IMDA's newest members is Marine Diesel Sweden AB (IMDA Email: info@marinediesel.nu). The new diesel line is teaming with Australian DBD Marine to introduce new drive systems to Europe's boatbuilders - all part of the changing scene as "diesel" preempts "petrol" increasingly as the power of choice. The new engines are based on the GM 6.5L V-8 block, and are particularly suited to re-powering.
Two other new IMDA members are Brazilian boatbuilders looking for new markets in Europe and the US.
The companies are veteran builders.
Fibrafort (IMDA Email: fibrafort@brasilnet.net) makes a stylish line of entry-level runabouts, 14' to 20', at competitive prices.
Schaefer Yachts (IMDA Email: phantom@matrix.com.br), builds runabouts and cuddies from 17' to 24' and a line of sport and cabin cruisers 29' to 35'.
Seahawk Pty Ltd (IMDA Email: info@seahawk.com.au) from Australia, is also a new member of IMDA. The company wants to establish distributors in the UK and other West European boating markets for its line of propellers, including 3-blade self-feathering props for heavy displacement sailboats.
Greenwich Trading Co (IMDA Email: dlyons@greenwichtrade.com), representing many major lines from the US, has opened a new warehouse in Belgium to serve the UK and Western Europe countries with expanded inventory levels.
