John Macaulay has been promoted to divisional manager at insurance specialists Haven Knox-Johnston .Macaulay, from Hassocks in West Sussex, has worked in the marine insurance sector in a variety of roles since 1979 and joined Haven Knox-Johnston as business development manager in 1996.

As divisional manager, he will be responsible for managing and controlling the underwriting and day-to-day operating activities of Haven Knox-Johnston and coordinating all activities to ensure its smooth operation.

He becomes a member of the senior management team of Amlin Marine Services, contributing to the strategic direction of the business.

Macaulay, who is married with one daughter, is a keen sailor and also lists diving and waterskiing among his interests.

James Froomberg has been appointed commercial director at British Waterways . He took up the post on March 24, 2003.

Until recently director of corporate development for Wembley plc, Froomberg's experience and expertise in the leisure sector will help British Waterways to fulfil and develop the commercial potential of the waterways, creating commercial projects to generate income and encourage investment in the waterways.

Froomberg joined Wembley plc, the Anglo-American trackbased gaming company, shortly after the sale of Wembley Stadium in 1999. His role was to conceive, develop and implement a new strategy for the group, resulting in Wembley plc moving from the UK's 500th to 280th largest quoted company.

Before joining Wembley plc, Froomberg was a partner at KPMG, where he headed the firm's management consultancy to the leisure industry.

During 16 years at KPMG he specialised in advising private, public and voluntary sector clients on strategic, corporate and business development, as well as the conception, generation, funding and implementation of major new projects in leisure and urban regeneration.

His particular focus was major public-private partnership projects including significant lottery-funded developments.

James is also a director of Business in Sport and Leisure, the sector's UK umbrella trade body, as well as a member of its commercial group and its gambling industry sub committee.

Married, with two children, Froomberg lives in Edgware.

He will be based at British Waterways' headquarters in Watford.

Linda Ransom ( above ) and Syreeta D Collins ( below ) have been appointed directors of insurance specialist company, Newton Crum .Together, the ladies will bring more than two decades of marine insurance expertise to the company.

Mike Gray has been appointed European sales director at pump specialists, SHURflo . He will work out of the company's UK headquarters at Gatwick.

Gray joined SHURflo 10 years ago following a sales and marketing career in communications and retail display.

He has managed the company's marine sales and recreational vehicle department for the past two years and was responsible for restructuring SHURflo's European distribution network.

Previous to running SHURflo's Marine Sales Division, Gray managed the company's Food Services Division and, prior to that, the company's Chemical and Recreational Vehicle divisions.

SHURflo's company secretary, Patricia Shadforth, has also been appointed to the role of operations director.

Herve Ferriere was appointed vice president of sales and marketing for the Plastimo Group as of March 17, 2003.

Ferriere, 42, worked in various capacities for Procter & Gamble France and was, more recently, vice-president of development of PepsiCo Europe, Middle East and Africa.

A keen sailor, as VP of sales and marketing, Ferriere will be in charge of Research and Development and will bring an active support to the subsidiary companies, implementing the actions necessary to support and enhance their position in their market.
