According to show organiser, Jane Wilson, this year's show will be up on last year's. "We 've had 50% renewals and deposits received for those, " she said.

"We 're expecting around 300 exhibitors, 40 boats on the water and around 4,500 visitors."

The emphasis of this year's show - and the concurrent conference - will be on safety throughout the working environment of the civil marine industry.

And the Gala Dinner - sponsored by ZF Gearboxes last year - will run again this year on June 17 at The Saints' St Mary's stadium.

Many of the exhibitors have leisure marine interests as well as commercial. Such as Victory Marine, UK agents for the Swedish Poly Produkter cordage. And C-Quip, making a return after a break of a few years.

Among the water-based exhibits will be a RIB sporting a Coventry Climax engine, while Isle of Wight-based Harley Racing Yachts is bringing a motor cruiser.

Humber Inflatables and J S Mouldings are bringing RIBS, Lochin Marine International is bringing a 11m sports cruiser and Ocean Dynamics has a 12m RIB on the water.

Offshore 105 (formerly Venture Offshore) is bringing an angling boat and a dive boat and Orkney Ribs and Ribcraft are bringing two vessels each.

Cheetah Marine is exhibiting as usual and Wessex Marine is showing its Targa.

Other well-known names include protection companies Cathelco, MG Duff and MME Engineering, with safety products from Viking, Cosalt, Ocean Safety, Land & Marine Products, Marine Rescue Co, Lalizas UK Ltd, Maximus Safety & Hygiene.

Then there's Seasafe Systems, Seaglaze Marine Windows, Hamilton Jet, Volvo Penta, Finning, Scania, Cummins, Kort Propulsion, Centa Transmissions, LeeSan and Cleghorn Waring.

Add Halyard, Hempel Marine Paints, International Coatings, Jotun Paints, Kuranda Marine, Hudson Marine Electronics, Mantsbrite and Marconi Marine.

Seawork is a good show and, being in June, generally gets good weather.

BB will run a Seawork preview in the June issue and be assured there is enough leisure marine influence to make a visit worthwhile.
