Simple fuel spill cleaner
01 Apr 2003
The lightweight sheen scavenger utilises patented MYCELX technology, which instantly attaches to spilled oil and fuel to prevent tarball formation and sheen.
MYCELX binds with hydrocarbons while rejecting water, absorbing contaminants with very minimal water drag-out.
Centek says because it's hydrophobic, the Sheen Devil will not support algae growth, keeping an attractive appearance.
The boom rests on top of the water where sheen forms, providing maximum exposure to oil and fuel.
Centek says it has five times the surface area coverage at only 1/5 the weight of conventional booms. A three metre section weighs just .45 kg, so it's easy to deploy, retrieve and drag across contaminated water, they say.
The boom can be used to clean rivers, streams, marshes, wetlands and a variety of other bodies of water. It can be towed behind boats that have been involved in a cleanup as they return to be decontaminated.
It can also be deployed permanently adjacent to a marina fuelling dock to absorb drips and vent splashes. In addition, the Sheen Devil absorbs the increased sheen discharged by rich running cold engines.
