Tap it and light it
01 Apr 2003
Le Tap's unique design is patented. The light's operation is based on what Ocean Safety says is an innovative electronic function.
The light cannot be switched on until a security thread has been pulled, after which it can be switched on and off as many times as required by tapping each end - hence Le Tap.
The thread ensures that the light does not function until the light is wanted and also doubles as a securing line - it can be hung about the person, attached to foul weather clothing and lifejackets, or attached anywhere on the boat at night.
Le Tap lights are supplied in two sizes - 4cm and 14cm.
Small and easily stored, Ocean Safety says they are a valuable addition to the emergency safety equipment of any vessel, and can also be used for general illumination purposes.
Their size and shape makes them ideal for personal safety use and pocket storage. The standard 14cm version is available in two colours, red and fluorescent green, while the mini comes in red.
Le Tap floats and is waterproof. Both sizes have a five-year life, with a minimum of six hours continual use.
Reatil prices are quoted - including VAT - as:
Le Tap Standard - 1 x 14cm light - £3.99. Le Tap Mini Pack - 3 x Mini 4cm - £9.99. Sailing Pack - 2 x Standard 14cm plus 3 x Mini 4cm - £14.95.
