IMDA

IMDA E-News is from the International Marine Distribution Association (IMDA), matchmakers for the boating trade with members worldwide representing all segments of the distribution chain. Feel free to contact them direct, and keep me - Jerry Martin - informed, too. (IMDA e-mail: jerrymartin@globalmarinenetwork.com This month I want to talk about the important work of ICOMIA, the International Council of Marine Industry Associations.

The individual members of this association represent the marine industry in each of their respective countries.

It was created in 1966, and each year grows more important to all in its forward-looking work to coordinate important government and industry related activities across borders.

This year, IMDA (the International Marine Distribution Association) became the first international association to join ICOMIA as a sustaining member.

Our mission to perform matchmaking functions opening new markets for both buyers and sellers, fits into ICOMIA in a unique way.

With our communication tools and in-depth experience in the industry, IMDA is effective in getting reps and distributors together with factories in faraway markets, which need these services and sales efforts.

IMDA is working with these ICOMIA associations all over the world, wherever possible, to help their members become involved with successful matchmaking efforts.

There are other benefits for expanding marine marketers in belonging to this aggressive programme, because members help each other find these opportunities.

Through IMDA they can have "friends and associates" in over 20 countries, many of which are new markets to them.

It is a way to gain entry into a new market, by getting good information and advice from fellow members you can trust.

Many have asked me fundamental questions about getting a start, or expanding, in international trade. Your country's marine association is the place to begin.

Then IMDA could be the next priority to get specific ideas to open the new doors that can help you grow.

Often, it will be just the one you need to walk through, to that new opportunity you were looking for.
