Evinrude outboards meet RCD emissions

According to a statement released from Bombardier's Quebec headquarters last month, the entire Evinrude outboard engine lineup for Europe satisfies the yet-to-be enforced European Union (EU) Recreational Craft Directive (RCD) emissions standards.

The company said Evinrude outboard engines are equipped with the most advanced direct injection technology in the market, and today satisfy these future EU limits.

Beginning with model year 2004, all Evinrude outboard engines will be identified with the Evinrude European decal shown here.

The EU standards stipulate that every two-stroke outboard engine sold in the EU must comply with strict emission limits set for each of three main emission components: hydrocarbon (HC), nitrogen oxide (NOx) and carbon monoxide (CO). This regulation on twostroke outboard technology will come into effect on December 31, 2006.

"We are proud that our entire Evinrude outboard engines lineup already meets the future EU emissions standards, " said Michel Hade, Bombardier's vice president, international sales and marketing.

"This is due to the fact that we have set higher standards in emissions performance for our engines and that we are committed to advance our outboard engine technology."
