AMP's latest in battery testing

AMP has launched what it says is the latest technology in battery testing in Newmar's Digital Battery Analyser (DBA).

The DBA is capable of instantly analysing 12 and 6volt lead acid batteries of all types including flooded gel-cell and AGM with ratings from 100-1400 CCA (Cold Cranking AMPS).

The unit provides information on voltage, condition and available power - allowing the technician to assure the customer that either their batteries are fine or to support a recommendation for replacement.

The DBA has a sophisticated test algorithm that facilitates the measurement of battery cell conductance ( in situ ), which is affected by sulphation or loss of active material. AMP says this test has proven to be an accurate indicator of cranking ability, standby energy capacity and general state of health, regardless of state of charge even down to as low as 5.5 volts.

The unit is constructed in ABS and is, says AMP, simple to use, with crocodile clip connection, touch pad control and LCD screen that shows battery voltage, available CCA power, good battery, good recharge, charge and retest, replace battery, bad cell replace battery.

The recommended retail price is quoted by AMP at £320.00 ex VAT.
