Icom's first combined VHF/DSC
01 Feb 2003
The IC-M601 is Icom's first combined VHF/DSC transceiver.
The unit meets ITU Class D DSC, using an independent Channel 70 receiver to keep a continuous DSC watch. Only one antenna is required for the Ch 70 and VHF operations.
Icom says the optional HM134B Commandmic provides a second and/or third station capability and an intercom function, enabling the radio to be operated from remote locations, such as the flybridge or cockpit, or anywhere else up to a maximum distance of 21m.
The unit can also be connected to a 2-way hailer horn, when the amplifier increases output to 22W. Fog horn patterns are also available.
The body is waterproof to JIS Grade 7 and the unit has an extended 3-year warranty available.
