O'Farrell wins Student of the Year

Richard O'Farrell was presented with the British Marine Federation's Student of the Year award by BMF chief executive John Clarke at The Schroders London Boat Show.

Nominated by Sail UK Yachting and Racing because of his devotion to working in this industry, O'Farrell is currently in his second year of BSc (Hons) degree in Yacht Manufacture and Surveying at Southampton Institute and works part time for Sail UK.

Runner-up awards were presented to Craig Mitcham, from Southampton Yacht Services and Robert Minney, from Goodchild Marine Services.

Launched in 2001 to recognise the importance of education and training within the industry, the Student of the Year competition is open to anyone studying on a full-time, part-time or distancelearning course relevant to the marine industry.
