Spinlock to collect SMART business award

Spinlock will collect one of the 2002 SMART awards this month at a presentation in the new British Library in London.

Hogg: leverage strategy

The 2002 SMART Achievement Awards will be announced before an audience of top UK industrialists by BBC television science presenter - and Britain's best known cyclist - Adam Hart Davis.

Spinlock is one of only 11 companies to be selected for this award from British industry and the only company from the leisure marine industry.

"Since our revolutionary PX cam cleat invention received SMART funding in 1999, Spinlock has used the success of PX as the catalyst, not just for spawning a whole new easy release cam cleat range, but for a staged redesign of our sailboat ropeholding clutches, " said managing director, Rodney Hogg.

This leverage strategy has worked strongly for us and the judges liked this, he said.
