New format for Dubai show
01 Jan 2003
A specialised air-conditioned structure will be built near the marina to host small boat and equipment exhibits and the established VIP Boat Show for larger motor and sail yachts over 45' will be held in water next to the boat show with chalets also available on the marina perimeter.
Other new developments include additional outside space for exhibiting small boats on land and an exciting range of water-based activities in Dubai Creek to attract visitors.
"The buoyant industry in the Gulf has tremendous potential. Dubai is recognised as the region's key trade zone for the marine industry, " said Shoiab Rahimi, international project manager, DIBS. "In this context, strengthening the boat show's image is an important factor in the continued development, growth and promotion of Dubai's marine industry."
A significant number of local and international companies recommended a reorganisation of the exhibition after last year's show.
"By developing a new style and approach we are enabling this event to serve as a launch pad for new marine products and technologies in this region, " said Mike Derrett, independent consultant to DIBS.
And holding the boat show in March will contribute to its success because the weather is more moderate he added.
The show is supported by the Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce and already has six British exhibitors booked.
