Unseaworthy stolen boat could lead to accident
01 Jan 2003
The boat has a white hull with red and grey stripes - like the one shown below - and carries the ID No. IT SEL 60086 J 102. The Selva outboard is a Portofino; ID No. 01155. The boat was sitting on a 4-wheel Bramber trailer.
Nixon says he has two reasons why he is worried about his boat. First, it is used as an RYA school boat at Atlantis Aquatic Sports and also as Nixon's demo boat.
So Nixon has no means of earning a living until he gets his boat back.
Second, the boat was in Dickies for repairs to its transom. And Nixon told BBthe boat in its current condition is considered unseaworthy.
The potential for an accident is high.
Nixon says there are only 20 or so Selva D6.0's in the country, and the police believe there is a very good chance of getting her back.
He has also been in touch with Crimewatch and hopes the theft will be televised.
In the meantime, Nixon is offering a reward of £1,000 for information leading to recovery of the boat and asks the trade to keep an eye out in case they are offered an apparently attractive boat/engine/trailer deal.
