Coating protects low voltage electronics

Aquastop is a water barrier coating developed for the protection of printed circuit boards used in mobile phones.

But the manufacturers quickly realised that it had many other applications and could be used to protect any PCB, electronic circuitry, electrical connections and fittings.

Developed by a North Staffordshire-based chemical company, Future Developments (Man) Ltd, Aquastop is used to coat low voltage electronic bits to put a barrier between them and water or moisture.

Applied quickly and easily by an aerosol spray, it takes a few seconds to apply a 2-micron coat, which is all that is required to protect sensitive components.

It will not damage any electrical components and it does not prevent further work being carried out to PCB's.

If total immersion occurs, the component can be dried. A further coat can then be applied to ensure complete protection again.
