First redesign to Aquadrive in 20 years

Halyard (M&I) tells us it has made the first major redesign of its Aquadrive flexible coupling since its launch 20 years ago.

The Baby Moduline Aquadrive uses Halyard's now well-known system of connecting the propeller shaft to a thrust bearing that, in turn, connects to the engine through a pair of constant velocity joints that allow free movement between engine and shaft.

This means, they say, that propeller thrust is no longer applied to the engine mounts, freeing them to reduce vibration properly.

What's more, no vibration at all goes down the propeller shaft.

Tests have proven a vibration and structure noise reduction of up to 80% and accurate engine to shaft alignment can be forgotten.

The new Baby Moduline Aquadrive is lighter, shorter and costs around 15% less than the existing Aquadrive system.

The reduced length can be crucial to owners who have limited space around the engine.

And design improvements introduced in the Baby Moduline system have contributed to the reduction in manufacturing costs.

Halyard says the Aquadrive flexible coupling system is the only one in the world to have a 10 year guarantee for private boat owners.
