IMDA E-News is from the International Marine Distribution Association (IMDA), matchmakers for the boating trade with members worldwide representing all segments of the distribution chain. Feel free to contact them direct, and keep me - Jerry Martin - informed, too. (IMDA e-mail: jerrymartin@globalmarinenetwork.com Whittley Cruisers, (IMDA E-mail:

whittley@ocean.com.au) , the 50-year old major small outboard, I-O and diesel cruiser line from Melbourne Australia, (IMDA E-mail: Whittley@ocean.com.au) , is well on its way to setting up its Europe dealer organisation. It has either established dealers, or will soon, in Netherlands, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, France, Spain and Greece. The company is particularly interested in talking to UK dealer prospects for its 5m to 8m "pocket cruisers", so well accepted by first time buyers.

Andy Blomdahl is ready to kick off his new MarineDiesel, (IMDA E-mail: info@marinediesel.nu) , line of 8-cylinder marinised GMbased 6.5 litre engines in a new plant in Sweden. He also has hooked up with Australia's DBD Marine with its innovative sterndrive with just six moving parts that does away with a gearbox in the leg. He also has his own design for an outdrive in the works, according to reliable sources.

Singapore based Sajan Rajah of SierRaventure, (IMDA E-mail: sierravc@online.sh.cn) , has hooked up with Munson Hammerhead of Seattle (IMDA EMail: Hammerhead@fidalgo. net) to represent its licensing operations in Singapore and the ASEAN countries. This programme is for companies wanting to set up an aluminium building operation, for it gives them access to all of Munson Hammerhead's successful designs.

This includes the American Eagle Division that pioneered the original US Coast Guard Safeboats. The company now has plans for the purchase of over $100,000,000 of these type boats for security purposes. The company is particularly targeting the UK for several prospective licensees, according to owner James Caudill.

His company, which now concentrates on the licensing operation, has built over 1000 commercial aluminium craft with a wide variety of uses. They are credited with building more aluminium commercial craft than any other builder.
