Prosser sets up shop in Largs

The Scottish yacht and powerboat selling market has seen significant changes (as outlined in the last issue of BB ) out of all recognition in the space of the last few months, and these changes are continuing apace, writes Mike Balmforth .

Prosser Marine Sales, Glasgow based Scottish distributors for Sealine, Doral and Bayliner, is to set up a state-of-the-industry showroom at Largs Yacht Haven.

This will be a "boat show stand by the sea", as Stan Prosser put it, situated adjacent to boat service company, DDZ Marine, with which Prosser will be working closely.

To flag up its arrival at the seaside, Prosser is planning an Action Weekend (May 2-June 1) when prospective customers can try out any boat in the Sealine range, enjoy test drives in Rolls-Royce and Aston Martin cars, and even take in a helicopter trip while they are waiting their turn.

Not content with moving one sales operation out of the city, Prosser has been appointed Sealine distributor for Northern Ireland and is setting up shop at Bangor Marina, where there is a high proportion of powerboats, indicating a healthy potential market.

Central to the Prosser operation will be establishment of a club for Sealine owners on both sides of the North Channel, which will aim to help new and existing owners get more mileage out of their boats.
