Seawork building nicely
01 May 2003
This year sees organisers, Mercator Media, inviting powerboating enthusiasts to the event, particularly those with the requirement for a year-round vessel capable of arduous duties, such as extended RIB cruising, diving and offshore and charter angling.
Mercator says seawork2003 is not a show for those who want to stroke the plastic fantastics at London or Southampton. These are, says Mercator, rugged, no-nonsense craft that support a range of activities around coast and harbours 24 hours a day in all weathers.
Among the floating exhibits will be the 11m RIB developed by Ocean Dynamics that will be used later this year for an attempt on the North Atlantic record.
Other boats in the marina include fishing cruisers, harbour launches, pilot vessels and surveillance craft.
There is a tremendous crossover between the smaller end of the commercial world and the leisure marine world, so there will be lots for BB readers to see.
Seawork runs from June 17 to 19 at the Canary Island Fruit Terminal in the ABP Port of Southampton.
