IWA's Navigation, Technical and Amenity Committee is responsible for monitoring and responding to matters concerning the use and maintenance of navigable waterways, advising council on strategic and forward planning decisions, publishing technical information and providing advice on navigation matters.
Squires is a retired economic geographer, a member of IWA's Council and is currently IWA's London Region Chairman and a deputy national chairman.
There are many challenges facing the committee at the current time, said Squires, including issues such as moorings, safety and fees.
Sarah Gladstone has been appointed project manager of the East Hall Activity Pool for the 2004 Schroders London International Boat Show.
She will be responsible for putting together and managing a programme of events on the pool at the 2004 show.
Gladstone, who has worked in the exhibitions industry for 16 years, started her career running conferences and seminars alongside shows and then developing in to event and exhibition management.
She was operations director and event director for IIR Exhibitions for four years.
Prior to that she was operations director for National Events which was sold on to IIR four years ago.
While at IIR she was responsible for running many events, including, Ipex, the Daily Telegraph House & Garden Fair, the International Festival of Fine Wine & Food and Creme.
Ben Dunton has been promoted at Holt to the position of director with primary responsibility for sales, marketing and product development.
Since joining the company last August, Dunton has enjoyed a number of significant successes in securing new OEM business for Holt hardware, as well as signing the UK distribution agreement for Tacktick marine compasses.
Dunton spent five years with LDC Racing Sailboats where he was responsible for the company's retail operation before joining Holt.
Prior to this he worked for Ashdown Marine Services maintaining the GB Olympic fleet.
Qualified in yacht manufacture and design, Dunton is also an active International 14 helmsman and has won many dinghy national championships, along with mounting Olympic campaigns in the 470 and 49er.
Jeannette Jessop has joined the British Marine Federation (BMF) as accounts clerk. Her duties will include all aspects of bought ledger ranging from staff payments to invoice coding.
She will also be involved in credit control and ad-hoc reports.
Richard Mulley has joined Mastervolt UK as a service engineer. He will provide service support for the company's growing list of OEM customers and the Mastervolt Energy Shops, the company's nationwide retail network.
Mulley is an apprenticeserved electrical technician with 12 years in the marine and power generation industries.
Iain Stuart has been appointed to the board as finance director at UK marine footwear brand Quayside.
Stuart graduated in Business Studies and Finance at Exeter University.
Matthew Davies has been appointed sales manager at Holt . He started his new role at the beginning of May and will primarily be responsible for servicing specific customer accounts and promotional projects.
Davies joins Holt from National Boat Shows, where he spent nearly six years working as a sales executive.
He has also worked for Queen Mary Sail Sports running the sailing school office and in airfreight exports.
A sailor from the age of five Davies was UK 707 national champion and winner of the 707 class in the '98 Cork Week.
He currently campaigns a RS200 and is an active participant in JOG racing on a Beneteau 31.7.
