Spear gets RYA Community Award

Mike Spear has been selected for an RYA Community Award for his services to sailing over the years, writes Bill Smith .
The award comes in particular for Spear's work as chairman of EAST's Trustees and the annual EAST cruising programme for blind and visually impaired sailors which has run since 1993.
EAST is a registered charity [No 1060465] which provides regular accessible opportunities for adults with disabilities, and their carers, to take an active part in sailing.
The award will be presented at a special luncheon in London prior to the RYA AGM in October 2003.
