Lockwell pins use a two or four ball configuration to lock into a receptacle, which can handle tension loads of over three tonnes and double shear loads of over 66 tonnes. A simple push unlocks the balls for quick release.

Single action "push" or double-acting "push/pull" pin types are available and a "drive out" option can be supplied.

The various ferrous and nonferrous materials used in the construction of the pins have been chosen to optimise strength to weight ratio and an extensive choice of handle styles, shank diameters and grip lengths is available. Dzus says handle designs and generously sized release button options allow artic glove operation.

Standard products are produced with nominal pin diameters from 0.187 inches to one inch and custom designs can be produced across the entire range.
