The proprietor is industry veteran Brian Somers, formerly parts and aftersales manager with Princess Motor Yachts. The new company will also be developing service contracts to supply a full range of parts, particularly to larger craft, in many worldwide markets.

Another IMDA member from Australia is Whitworth's Nautical World Pty Ltd (IMDA E-mail: peterwoolley@whitworths.com.au), that country's largest marine accessories retailer.

Often referred to as "The West Marine of Australia, " the company operates 12 stores nationwide, and maintain a substantial 164 page catalogue, particularly strong in sailboat equipment. Vendors with new opportunities would be well advised to contact Peter Woolley, Whitworth's owner.

One of IMDA's newest members is Surrette Battery Company Ltd (IMDA E-mail: david@surrette.com) with headquarters in Springhill, Nova Scotia, Canada and Salem, Massachusetts, USA. The leading North American marine lead-acid battery manufacturer started in 1935.

There is plenty of demand from customers with appreciation for a technically superior marine battery line. It should be a winner for the right organisation. Talk to David Surrette.
