According to Internet newsletter, Scuttlebutt , since the March 1 announcement of the America's Cup team auction on eBay, the Challenge Series website has had a record 197,000 hits.
They say more than 1100 companies have downloaded the auction package to sponsor the Sausalito Challenge and a pattern is emerging for who is interested in sponsoring an America's Cup team.
Below is a list of businesses by sector that have inquired about the exclusive sponsorship, but all will finally be revealed when the bidding closes on April 2 (pretty close to April 1, we think).
Companies showing interest by downloading the package details include: 23 pharmaceutical, 12 fashion/cosmetics, 12 biotech, 9 software, 8 telecoms, 8 ad agencies, 7 banks/investment, 6 tourism boards, 5 automobile, 4 oil, 4 resorts/hotels and 3 airlines.
