Tennents break sponsorship record

West Highland Yachting Week has been providing a famously enjoyable regatta for almost half a century, which for the last 25 years has been sponsored by Tennent Caledonian Breweries - probably a record for a sporting sponsorship, and definitely for a yachting one, writes Mike Balmforth .

The brewers of Britain's longest established lager bring some obvious benefits to the event, but basically it allows the organisers to get on with running the racing while the beverage experts organise the social side - a formula that is so successful that there has been no need to re-invent it.

Our picture shows that after 25 years of practice, George Seaton (Regatta Committee chairman) and Malcolm McGregor (race officer) show Mike Lees (MD, Tennent's Brewery) they know how to pull a pint.
