CA offers electronic charting library

Cruising Association (CA) members are used to having one of the country's largest libraries of nautical books, pilotage information and thousands of charts at their disposal for voyage planning, writes Mark Wakelin.

Now, however, they can view the world's oceans and shorelines on-screen via C-Map electronic charting. The Norwegian company has provided worldwide coverage which members can access on a dedicated computer terminal in CA's excellent cruise planning section.

Mike Howe, CA's librarian and information officer, is extremely enthusiastic about the new system: "It really is incredible: with a few simple key strokes you can zoom in from world scale to your local harbour in excellent detail. At basic level it is very simple to use but it has some superb features that I am really going to enjoy demonstrating to the members."

Worth a trip to stand AO67 in Solent Hall at Southampton International Boat Show or call 020 7537 2828. Email office@cruising.org.uk
