Harris buys Boat International

As BB closed for press the news came through that Tony Harris, CEO of madforsailing - which publishes Sailing Today and Coastal Living - had acquired the Boat International stable of titles worldwide.

Harris refused to put a value on the deal, that had the backing of Henderson Private Capital. "We created one company that will run Sailing Today, Coastal Living and all the Boat International titles, " said Harris. "The company will run out of Kingston on Thames and the current staff remain."

The new company - Boat International Publications Ltd - will publish Boat International, Boat International USA, Captain's Log, Mer & Bateaux and Meer & Yachten alongside the existing Sailing Today and Coastal Living titles.

I rolled my shareholding in Sailing Today and Coastal Living into the new company and invested a substantial amount of my own money, said Harris Christian Chalmin, the previous owner, takes on the role of non-executive chairman.
