The NavStation is a fully functioning GPS chartplotter based on the tried and tested 34/44/54 series of Simrad combination products. But, they say, a wealth of extra physical and software based functionality has been added.

Once the user has the NavStation installed, Simrad says a simple upgrade path increases navigation capabilities. The owner can plug in a scanner for full radar functionality: an upgrade card and transducer will add a Simrad Echosounder. All connections are via the single SimNet cable so adding new functions is easy.

The base units are available in three screen sizes: CX34 (7"), CX44 (10.4") and the CX54 (15").

Simrad has also upgraded its 33 series as part of the new CX range.

The CX33 offers the reliability and much of the functionality of the new NavStation range but with a compact 6" colour screen with new technology that Simrad says makes it even more suitable for the marine environment.

The CX33 can be upgraded with an echosounder (CX33-E).

The CX33 and CX33-E support the new C-MAP MAX chart system.

The CP31 is a new entrylevel chartplotter for small yachts and motorboats. The CP31 has easy to use hot keys and a 6" TFT screen. It's waterproof and robustly constructed and can be mounted in exposed cockpits and flybridges and uses a new low profile patch type GPS antenna.

The unit uses Simrad's Advanced Chart Management System (ACMS).

Finally, Simrad launched a brand new Search and Rescue Transponder (SART), the SA50, which, they claim, is the smallest SART currently available.

Simrad says by using innovative circuit design, the Simrad SA50 meets the operational requirements using a battery pack which is classified as non-hazardous.

This means that the SART or replacement batteries can be shipped directly to the customer without any additional cost or paperwork, greatly reducing the cost of ownership.
