Your Letters On Board Power

Dear Sir, I am writing regarding the above article and need to clarify a statement which could be confusing to your UK readers. It concerns HFL Powergen picture and comments regarding some of it's components. The article states "HFL's non-digital option is made up mainly of RS components easily available from any Tandy store worldwide". The RS that is mentioned is Radio Shack, which trade under that name in USA and as Tandy worldwide. RS Components have no legal tie up with Radio Shack.

Many people in this country associate RS with RS Components and not with Radio Shack. In fact, there have been legal actions which have prevented RS Components from trading in USA under that name. The same actions have prevented Radio Shack from operating under that name in Europe and other countries where RS operate. The article should have said "Radio Shack components" so that your readers, and customers of RS, do not think that Radio Shack and RS Components are one and the same.

I write this as an ex-RS Components employee.

Yours sincerely, William Barrett Marine inventory controller Mark Dowland Marine
