£11k+ raised for Merricks Trust

A blustery day in October saw 84 golfers turn out to support the eighth annual North Sails/ John Merricks Sailing Trust Golf Day.

Among the competitors were Olympic Gold medallists Shirley Robertson, Sarah Webb and Sarah Ayton and windsurfing bronze medallist Nick Dempsey. Former medallists Iain Percy, Ian Walker and Ossie Stewart also played alongside many other top sailors and marine industry movers and shakers.
Journalist Bob Fisher handled the auction in typical style, cajoling £11,329.30 from the assembled masses.
The JMST has already awarded over £55,000 to individuals or projects that seek to further youth sailing.
