Glasgow Afloat Show
01 Dec 2004
The Scottish Caravan and Outdoor Leisure Show (February 3-6, SECC, Glasgow) has been a fixture for several decades, but attempts to run a concurrent boat show have never been successful - "costs too high, sales potential too low" has been the grumble, meaning few exhibitors, and fewer returning, writes Mike Balmforth.
Clarion Events Scotland Ltd, which took over the organisation in 2004, has introduced a new section called "Afloat:
The Affordable Boat Show" and with floor space at £35 sq m, and shell stands at £135 sq m, hope to attract the small craft sector.
Whether it is the show that is affordable, or even the boats, remains to be seen.
