Methven: show must be reconsidered

"Over the years the show has succeeded in creating a great place to network and do business for all involved in the marine industry, " said Peter Methven, chairman of the MTA.

"However, the show must be reconsidered in today's increasingly competitive environment."

Currently targeted at the retail sector, it seems impossible for the organisers to get retailers to visit the show and play a part in the development of the industry they rely upon so heavily for their livelihood.

"The show's future will be analysed in detail as part of the overall review of the business, " said Paul Streeter, managing director of NBS.
