METS closes 14% up

The Marine Equipment Trade Show (METS) in Amsterdam closed with the unaudited attendance figure quoted by organisers Amsterdam RAI as 15,147. There were 938 exhibitors from 30 countries.

The attendance figure, while down on the last METS, which ran alongside Europort, is 14% up on the last non-Europort show in 2002.

British exhibitors (winners shown above) again did well in the prestigious METS DAME awards, with Raymarine and B&G joint winners in the Marine Electronics category and Spinlock and Barton joint winners in the Life Saving Equipment and Safety category.

Special Mentions went to Sensory International UK, Petersen Stainless Rigging, Ocean Safety and Teleflex Marine.

The overall DAME Award went to Arte SRL of Italy for its Bamar RLG-Code Furler that allows furling of asymmetric sails.
