Suzuki outboards now EU2005 compliant

Suzuki says all its 2005 season portable and electronic fuel injected 4-stroke outboards meet the new stringent EU2005 emissions standards that become effective in the EU on January 1, 2006.

The new EU2005 standards demand the individual monitoring of three main pollutants - carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbons (HC) and nitrogen oxide (NOx).

This differs from the EPA2006 and CARB2008 emission regulations being introduced in the USA as these only set standards for HC and NOx with no limit on CO emissions.

"We welcome the EU emissions initiative and fully support its objectives, " said Masa Shimizu, head of Suzuki Marine Sales in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
