IBEX U offers trade education
01 Feb 2004
Run by the US magazine Professional Boatbuilder , IBEX U is in its final stages of development. The seminar programme has been developed following input from UK boatbuilders.
The UK trade, apparently, says it is interested in composites and infusion, so IBEX U has developed four of its 12 seminars around those subjects, including an introductory infusion course, a session on new developments in composites materials and a composites-repair course.
Other topics to be covered are sail and powerboat hull designs, EU regulations and RNLI lifeboats.
"We received a very enthusiastic response from UK boatbuilders following our requests for IBEX U seminar topics, " says Carl Cramer, IBEX U show director. "The international need for boatbuilding education and new technology is very apparent, and IBEX U: Bournemouth is our first step toward filling that void."
In addition to the conference half of the IBEX U event, the exhibition will host approx-imately 80 boatbuilding companies. Among the companies already booked are SP Systems, Sabre engines, EcoSea, the BMF, Marathon Leisure and Plastech Thermoset Tectonics.
The IBEX U shows are extremely strong in the USA, as the testimonials indicate.
"IBEX U is a great opportunity to meet and hear from knowledgeable people in the boatbuilding industry - both technicians and suppliers."
Charles Goodsell, Rampage Sportsfishing Yachts.
"The smaller venue allowed for improved interaction with industry professionals, benefiting custom fabricators and production boatbuilders alike."
Brian Cooke, World Class Catamaran.
"The IBEX U exhibition is a free opportunity for boatbuilding professionals to discover new possibilities for enhancing their production and management with new technologies that will prove invaluable in growing the UK marine trade, " said Carl Cramer, IBEX U show director and publisher of Professional BoatBuilder magazine.
"The exhibition is augmented by seminars developed specifically around the requests of the region's builders; so attendees will leave the event with a new understanding of their options for building, designing, and repairing all kinds of marine craft."
