Every coating needs a remover first
01 Feb 2004
Among them is a product basic to paints and coatings - a paint remover. And it's a paint remover that is, says BCA, environmentally friendly.
BCA says the Biocidal Products Directive insists that old environmentally hazardous paint must be removed and disposed of safely.
And with shotblasting banned or restricted, BCA says its RemovAll comes into its own.
It's an aerosol spray that's water-based, fully biodegradable, doesn't deplete the ozone layer and is noncarcinogenic and therefore safe for humans as well.
Put sheeting around the hull, spray RemoveAll on and leave it to work by releasing the bond between paint and substrate. BCA says this allows the old paint to be taken off with, for example, a water pressure spray. The water also neutralises the hull.
