IMDA

IMDA E-News is from the International Marine Distribution Association (IMDA), matchmakers for the boating trade with members worldwide representing all segments of the distribution chain. Feel free to contact them direct, and keep me - Jerry Martin - informed, too. (IMDA e-mail:

jerrymartin@globalmarinenetwork.com Australia's Whittley Cruisers (IMDA Email: whittley@ocean.com.au), is currently in negotiations to establish a network of dealers in the UK for its popular line of "pocket cruisers". The company is expanding worldwide based on its theory that very few are producing smaller I/O and outboard powered fully-equipped cruisers in the 6 to 8m range with appeal particularly to the first time owner.

Another IMDA member from Australia, AIMEX , (IMDA Email: phil.aimex@bigpond.com.au), the marine exporting group, is searching for new distributor outlets for many of Australia's excellent maritime products. The exporters have pledged to double their international output in the next 10 years. Phil Vidal is the AIMEX contact.

UK manufacturers searching for an entry strategy for the growing Southeast Asia market could find a pleasant welcome from "KC" Thein, of Explorer Marine Center SDI Bad (IMDA E-mail: emcmarin@tm.net.my). Thein is known as Mr Boating in Malaysia and is continuing his aggressive expansion plan as this promising market comes alive again.

Dr Shrink , (IMDA E-mail: drshrink@dr-shrink.com) US guru of the marine shrink-wrap business, has established Graham Bryant of Three Hurdles in Ongar, Essex, UK as its European distributor. Special training seminars and activities are being planned for all major boating markets.

USA's Fortress Anchors , (IMDA E-mail: brian@fortressanchors.com) is expanding its distributor and OEM bases in the UK and north Europe marine markets. Veteran sales rep, Giuseppe Chiole , (IMDA E-mail: cachiole@tin.it), is handling this expansion programme.

Chiole also is directing the aggressive sales program to penetrate UK distribution channels, being conducted by API of Ft Lauderdale, Florida, (IMDA E-mail:

richard@apimarine.com), aimed at replacement parts for power trim and outboard starter motors. The company has built strong volume by solving dealer problems with hardto-find replacement parts.
