Gill's UV aerodynamic vest

Getting a Special Mention in the "Clothing and crew accessories" category, Gill's UV Aero Vest is a stretch top to be worn over a buoyancy aid and trapeze harness to enhance aerodynamics and reduce the danger of getting entangled in equipment layers.

Starting life as a Gill Rash Vest worn by Tornado sailors Hugh Styles and Adam May, the two modified it by slicing a two-inch slit on the front to allow the trapeze hook through. But the slit tore frequently. So Gill took their basic idea, added some stretch Kevlar reinforcing, called it the Aero Vest and put it out to retail at £25.00.
