Holy Loch Marina expands

The expansion of the Clyde's newest marina from 100 to 300 berths over the next few years received the green light from local residents of Sandbank in December, writes Mike Balmforth .
The decision came despite a small but determined pocket of resistance to the dredging and backfilling that will create a new shoreline and landscaped walkway.
Holy Loch Marina was established in 2000 on the site of the historic Morris and Lorimer yacht yard at Sandbank, which in more recent years became the stores for the US Navy Polaris submarine base. The marina has proved to be very popular with local residents and visitors alike, and has had a waiting list for berths since day one.
With planning and dredging consents already in the pipeline, much needed expansion can now get under way.
