New WinGPS 4 navigation software

Stentec Software has launched WinGPS 4, a navigation program that's part of the company's new WinGPS 4range of navigation software.

WinGPS 4 supports the DKW1800 series in Stentec's DKW2-format and they say it's the only program that supports the new ANWB/VVV charts (DKW2) for Dutch inland waterways. They say this results in an optimal solution for navigation on the Dutch waterways.

Stentec says the program also works very fast and accurately with Maptech BSB charts, Navkom DKW charts and selfscanned charts. The program uses seamless cartography with all displayed together as one big chart. This makes the program ideal for route planning.

When a GPS is connected, the navigator sees his position and track displayed on the raster charts. Planning and adjusting routes is simply done by clicking on the chart.

Stentec says it is continuously improving the program and allows users to download updates for free, which can be done with an 'update' button within the program.

WinGPS 4 requires a Pentium I with 32MB RAM and Windows 98 or better. Available languages are English and Dutch, with a German update to be added.

The price of WinGPS 4 is ?129,90 (incl. 19% Dutch VAT).

Stentec is also developing a PDA-option for WinGPS 4 and a professional version WinGPS 4 Pro with extra modules like radar overlay and a polar module for regatta sailors.
