Simrad's Class A AIS

Simrad has launched an AIS system with display and controls integrated with the AIS Class A mobile station.

The AI71 is based on identical technology to Simrad's existing AI70, but does not require an external minimum keyboard display (MKD) for operation.

Meeting IMO standards and regulations, Simrad says the AI71 provides a compact, cost effective solution with the added advantage of simplified installation.

The unit has a four line display capable of displaying all text based AIS information.

Dedicated keys for all main functions offer simple operation and the AI71 can be interfaced with radar, ECDIS and ECS to enable AIS data to be displayed over electronic charts and radar images.

The unit provides ship name/ call sign/MMSI/IMO number, date and time in UTC, time of composition of message, position WGS84; latitude/ longitude, course over ground (COG) in degrees, speed over ground (SOG) in knots and 1/10 knots, destination/ETA, actual maximum draft in 1/10 of metres, ship/cargo (static and voyage related data), length/ beam, number of persons on board, SMS (free), graphical display of AIS.
