Pulsar meets 'high expectations'

CJR says its new Pulsar range of propellers (or "wheels" to our US cousins) were developed to meet the high expectations of today's boating fraternity. The Pulsar was developed to substantially reduce vibration and noise but still increase performance.

CJR says to this end, working to high tolerances that go beyond the ISO Class S (Class S tolerances were simply not good enough to achieve what the customer wanted, they say) CJR believe they may be producing the best propeller on the market.

CAD/Cam systems design and machine the pattern.

Special sand bonding systems are used to make a highly accurate mould. Induction furnaces melt the ingot quickly to extremely high temperatures to produce "cleaner metal" for casting and CJR's unique pouring methods ensure perfect castings.

The propeller is machined on purpose-built CNC machinery.

Finally the propeller is hand finished using the latest MRI inspection and balancing equipment.

CJR says that recent trials carried out at a major UK production boatbuilder against a competitor's propeller, the CJR propellers demonstrated that they produced significantly better performance in terms of low-levels noise and vibration.

Noise levels were reduced by 20%, increased performance from 32 to 33 knots and reduced noise levels by 4%.

The test, carried out by the competitors, has led to increase demand for new propellers from CJR for the boatbuilder concerned.

As a result of the feedback and interest shown for the Pulsar a record number new customer enquiries have been received by their head office, especially from the Asia and Australian markets which have normally been difficult to break into due to the shipment time and costs.

The company says it hasn't stopped there and has undertaken a comprehensive staff and management-training programme, embracing "lean manufacturing" techniques and a revised quality control process. A phase-two expansion programme is also in place to enable to the company to be pro-active in terms of meeting the increased demands, and will occur in the next 12 months.

The company has developed strategic objectives to develop their range of products and new designs, especially for the medium and large pleasure boatbuilders, in order to continue growth both at home and abroad.
