Frank Fish 1954- 2004

The industry lost one of its leading lights on Sunday, June 13 when Frank Fish died from a blood clot on the brain. He was just over 50 years old.

Frank Fish started Sealine with Tom Murrant in the early 70s, building small dayboats.

He was managing director for much of the company's life until the company was sold to Gerard Wainwright. When Wainwright sold the company to Brunswick, Frank Fish opted for semi-retirement, acting as a consultant and appearing at boat shows.

A dedicated industry supporter, in 1994 he joined the board of National Boat Shows, becoming its chairman and a member of the management board in 1998. Most recently, he was chairman of the subscription review group.

"We will really miss him and his direct, humorous style, " said John Clarke, chief executive of the BMF.

Never afraid to speak his mind, Fish earned universal respect throughout the industry.

"One of the marine industry's great figures, " said Gerard Wainwright. "He will be sadly missed."
