NBS: 'Biggest ever' Southampton Boat Show

According to organisers National Boat Shows (NBS), exciting features, famous faces and stunning boats will make up the biggest ever Southampton International Boat Show (SIBS) from September 10-19.

This year's show, in association with The Daily Telegraph, has 20% more exhibition space than last year's show, and now covers 29.6 acres.

With the changes brought about by the various local developments going on, the show will have a new area, Solent Park, which will host the Honda Formula 4-stroke racing finals over the first weekend of the show.

Visitors can have a go on these high-speed race boats over the entire period of the show or can just come along and watch during the weekend.

Other attractions at Europe's largest show on the water include the Type 42 destroyer, HMS Newcastle. TV celebrity chef Ross Burden will be cooking at his first ever restaurant. The Honda Dream Zone offers topclass simulation in Formula 1 and Formula 3 racing cars, a Honda 750 road bike or the latest BAR lawn tractor.

Visitors can meet sea creatures using state of the art underwater 3D cameras at the National Marine Aquarium, where you will also be able to see the latest images from the sunken frigate, Scylla. And Sunsail's America's Cup boats will be there again, offering working trips.

Those who wish to take a dive - underwater, that is - can grab a wet suit and have a go in the dedicated dive area. And, of course, there will be Try-aboat again.

NBS promises us over 900 boats along some 2km of pontoons.
