Scottish Series boosts economy
01 Jul 2004
The Bell Lawrie Scottish Series says it brings 2,500 people to Tarbert - among them some big spending owners who help generate around £1m for the local economy, claim the organisers.
"Every year we hope that it will exceed the last and once again we have managed to achieve this, " said John Hardie, chairman of Tarbert Enterprise Company. "Not only does the Bell Lawrie Scottish Series provide a boost to the local economy, it draws people to the area and really puts us on the map."
The event organisers say 1,700 people were involved in the racing - 1,500 crew and 200 volunteer helpers.
