Seajet's four "class-leading" varnishes
01 Jun 2004
There are three main varnish products offering a range of applications. Each is easily applied by brush, spray or roller following usual surface preparation.
UV Varnish is a onecomponent, traditional tung oil varnish that offers a high gloss finish and good leveling properties. It can be applied to any wooden object that won't be permanently immersed in water.
UV absorbers help maintain appearance, even during extended periods of direct sunlight.
For coating existing varnish in good condition, Seajet says a minimum of two coats will give a satisfactory result.
For poorer surfaces, Seajet advises stripping back to bare wood, applying three thinned coats and finishing with multiple sanded coats to obtain a glass-like finish.

Polyurethane Gloss Varnish offers, says Seajet, ultimate performance. It's a two component product with a very hard, ultra high gloss finish.
The tough characteristics of this varnish offer excellent scratch and damage resistance, equally suited to exterior and interior use. They say it also contains UV protection and will retain a high gloss look for longer periods of time.
For applying to surfaces in poor conditions, Seajet advise stripping back to bare wood.
Surfaces in better condition require cleaning and sanding, followed by a minimum of five, proportionately thinned coats, to achieve the ultimate gloss finish.

Teak Oil is for the preservation and protection of teak, iroko and other hardwoods. It requires less maintenance than varnish and can be re-applied quickly with less preparatory work. Recommended for exterior use and applied to bare wood. Also has some UV protection.
Seajet's internal research has shown its Teak Oil is testing very well and is offering improved or, at least, a comparable performance to a number of more expensive competitive brands.
